MAV to establish facility management unit
(MTI) – Hungarian state-owned railway company MAV will establish a facility management unit to handle the railway’s property and assets, MAV General Deputy CEO Laszlo Pal announced on Wednesday.
Pal said that MAV owns a large amount of unused real estate, noting that the company returned 2,100 pieces of property to the Hungarian state last year.
Pal added that it is very important that MAV retain only properties necessary to the company’s operations.
At the conference, Development Minister Miklos Sesztak said that Hungary’s competitiveness could not be increased without its rail network. Between 2010 and 2014, the government allocated 760 billion forints (EUR 2.43bn) to developing the railway system.
