Migration pressure growing on southern border, says PM advisor
Budapest, May 27 (MTI) – Hungary is facing growing migration pressure on its border with Serbia, the prime minister’s chief domestic security advisor said on Friday.
György Bakondi told a press conference that most migrants who enter the country do so illegally by damaging the border fence.
Human smugglers have also been more active recently, mostly between Macedonia and Serbia. Bakondi said the people smugglers typically charge migrants about 1,000 euros to escort them across the Macedonian-Serbian border.
Hungarian authorities have apprehended 121 people smugglers so far this year, he said.
Bakondi said a total of 17,052 asylum requests have been submitted in Hungary so far this year, 4,102 of them in transit zones. There are currently two transit zone set up on the Serbian-Hungarian border sheltering 230 people. The interior ministry is planning to set up a third one near Asotthalom.
He said the European Union is concentrating primarily on the admission, integration, redistribution and “forced settlement” of migrants. Bakondi said EU efforts to help keep migrants in their home countries and border protection measures were too slow.
Bakondi noted that Hungary has sent police officers to Macedonia and Greece to help their colleagues protect borders.
He said there are currently more than 54,000 migrants stranded in Greece, with 20 to 60 new people entering the country per day.
Bakondi said 90 percent of the migrants who arrive at Italy’s shores set off from Libya.
About 2,000-3,000 migrants attempt to reach Italy each day, he said. Expert projections indicate that some 450,000 migrants will try to reach Europe through this route in 2016, he added.

Life sentences for human traffickers and direct flights to Belgium for the invaders. If Macedonia, Serbia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Croatia and Greece do the same it might stop the stupidity coming out of the mouths of the E.U. tyrants.
