Budapest, (MTI) – Experts delegated by Hungary’s Human Resources Ministry and the World Health Organisation have prepared a joint report on challenges in connection with migration, the health state secretariat said on Monday.
WHO delegates met Hungarian decision-makers, experts, civil society and international partners and were briefed about the situation in Hungary. They visited the reception centres in Bicske (C) and Kiskunhalas (S) and the children’s home in Fot, just northeast of Budapest, a family shelter operated by the Baptist Aid and the transit zone in Szeged, in southern Hungary.
The arrival of many refugees and migrants has posed great challenges for the health services of Hungary and other receiving countries, the delegates said. Hungary is stable in terms of public health and epidemics, but several measures must be taken in response to the pressures of migration, a statement from the state secretariat said.
