Multiple flights cancelled at Budapest Airport!
There is an ongoing general strike in Belgium that concerns half of the flights departing from Brussels International Airport. Furthermore, Charleroi Airport has closed down, affecting budget airlines flying between Belgium and Hungary. Due to the strike, public transport is stalled in the country, and protesters did not allow some shops to open.
The general strike causes problems at the country’s airports. The capital’s international airport cancelled 55 percent of the flights, which amounts to more than 200 today. Moreover, 60 percent of departing and arriving flights face significant delays. In addition, the Charleroi Airport closed today, which serves low-cost airlines flying to Hungary, airportal.hu said.
As a result, Wizz Air and Ryanair flights between Brussels-Charleroi and Budapest were cancelled. Meanwhile, the planes of Brussels Airlines will fly according to the timetable from Zaventem Airport (Brussels).
The strike is prompted by the decreasing purchasing power of the citizens. Protesters demand higher wages, social allowances, energy price caps and the introduction of excess profit taxes.
