Music unites civilisations: Budapest hosts Chinese–Hungarian cultural celebration

On June 14, the first International Day of Dialogue Among Civilisations designated by the United Nations, a thematic cultural event entitled “Dialogue and Connection” was successfully held in Budapest, organised by the Chinese Cultural Centre in Budapest and the Liszt Ferenc Cultural and Music Elite Program.

The central idea of the event was that music can serve as a bridge between civilisations, promoting mutual understanding and connection. During the day, three spectacular flash mob musical performances took place at iconic locations in the city – the Fisherman’s Bastion, St. Stephen’s Basilica and Margaret Island – featuring Hungarian and Chinese artists performing together.

In the evening, a grand concert in the garden of the Chinese Cultural Centre in Budapest crowned the day, attracting nearly a hundred spectators. The concert was divided into two parts: the first half featured classical music, while the second half featured folk music performances with the participation of artists from both countries. The event was an outstanding example of intercultural dialogue and the unifying power of art.
