Netflix makes Hungarian film On Body and Soul available for streaming
Hungarian weekly Heti Világgazdaság reports that the Hungarian Oscar entry On Body and Soul by Ildikó Enyedi is made available for streaming by Netflix. HBO and HBO Go will soon start streaming it in Europe.
On Body and Soul has been accumulating its wins since it premiered in Berlin. The North-American distributing rights to the film were bought by Netflix. This means that the Alexandra Borbély and Géza Morcsányi starred film will be available on the streaming platform from the 21st of February 2018.
Enyedi’s film won a Golden Bear at this year’s Berlinale, was nominated in four categories at the European Film Awards, so it is no wonder companies from the US are interested in it. According to the contract signed with Netflix,
On Body and Soul will be accessible from the USA, Canada, South America (except for Brasil), South Africa, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Mongolia.
However, it is not just Netflix that got its eye on the Hungarian success film, but according to Heti Világgazdaság, HBO GO and HBO will also stream it from February next year. The film will be available only at these two platforms in Hungary and 19 other European countries.
On Body and Soul is being screened in cinemas in Germany, the United Kingdom, and Sweden since September, and in Norway, France, and Switzerland since October.
The Hungarian Oscar-entry will premier in the US today, at the American Film Institute’s AFI Fest.
The film will even have a more important screening on the 16th of November for the members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. The HFPA are Golden Globe voters.
