New flu-like virus rampages in Hungary
Last week, 62,900 people in Hungary turned to their GP with a flu-like virus, the National Public Health Centre (NNK) said on Thursday.
Fully 275,700 people complained of an acute respiratory infection between March 6 and 12, the centre said. Of those with a flu-like virus, 44,8 percent were below the age of 15, while 28,5 percent were 15-34. Fully 6.9 percent were 60 or above.
Last week, 268 people were hospitalised with an acute respiratory infection, 44 of whom needed intensive care. Almost a third all patients aged 2 or below, while 41,4 percent were 60 or above. Among hospitalised patients, 56 were diagnosed with influenza, 46 with SARS-CoV and 30 with RSV. Some 82.6 percent of Covid-19 patients were aged 60 or older.
