Semmelweis University is in the 501-600th place range on the list of the London-based Times Higher Education – the institute said.
There are six higher education institutions on the list, among which the best is the Semmelweis University.
In the 601-800th range, Budapest University of Technology, University of Debrecen, Eotvos Lorand University, University of Pecs and University of Szeged are included.
The world ranking measures the institutions on the basis of five main areas’ indicators: educational environment, research, citations, industry revenue and international orientation. Semmelweis University performed the best in the latter, due to the proportion of foreign students and lecturers and the outstanding number of publications born in international cooperation, hvg.hu wrote.
All Hungarian universities on the list are prominent in terms of international embeddedness. The only exception is the University of Technology which is the most effective in terms of industry revenue.
For the compilation of the Times Higher Education ranking, data were collected from 1126 institutions, 11.3 million scientific papers were examined and more than 11 000 questionnaires sent to scientific circles were analyzed. This is the 12th year that Times list is edited, which is among the world’s most prestigious and respected rankings. Education, research, knowledge transfer and internalization measurements are based on strict standards.
A total of 345 European universities have been added to the list, the first three places go to the California Institute of Technology, the University of Oxford and Stanford University.
