Orbán cabinet sees the case of Antifa Ilaria Salis as clear

Hungary’s state secretary for communications and international relations has said: “Let’s get some facts straight” about the case of Ilaria Salis, who is being detained in a Hungarian prison.

“Since mid-February, Ilaria Salis’ father, Roberto Salis, has been touring the European media saying that he is ‘concerned’ about his daughter’s safety as long as she is in Hungary. Therefore, they applied for house arrest in Italy, about which [foreign minister Péter] Szijjártó said that ‘it will be decided by the court, which is an independent body,'” Zoltán Kovács wrote on X on Tuesday.

He wrote there was “a reasonable suspicion that Ilaria Salis traveled to Hungary with her two antifa associates with the aim of beating up innocent people on the streets of Budapest. Meanwhile, the Italian media did its best to portray Salis as a martyr.”

Citing an statement made earlier by Szijjártó, Kovács wrote that it was “astonishing that they are trying to interfere with a Hungarian court case from Italy”, and he referred to “the premeditated nature of the act” which had been “well-thought-out”

“They nearly killed people in Hungary, and now she is depicted as a martyr.”

He added that “no direct request from the Italian government (or any major media outlet) to the Hungarian government will make it easier to defend Salis’s case, because the government, as in any other modern democracy, has no control over the courts.”

  1. An attempted murderer of Hungarian citizens from a foreign citizen is unforgivable, criminal should be jailed for at least 20 years. Foreigners have no right to attempt murder of Hungarians in Hungary. Political philosophy of an idiot should result in murder of her compatriots.

Salis, a vermin, should be jailed with rats. Her jail sentence should depict punishment and deterrent.

It is a shame that Hungary does not have capital punishment.

  2. Dear nazi sympathizer maria,

nazism is a crime worldwide and yet Hungary is happily hosting and even providing shelter and protection to criminals every year when they have their infamous gathering to plan how to progress with implementing nazism worldwide.

the criminal who was beaten up was attending this event, so he got what he deserved. there’s no place for nazism in the world and any people who ought to protect them deserve to be treated as part of their cause.

  3. If I may add to the second comment, whith whom I fully agree by the way… Ms. Salis is in prison, a prison that looks worse than those in 7th-world countries, almost worse than Szentjanos hospital, since 14 months even though at present no solid evidence has been found that links her to the alleged beating. For weeks after being put in jail she was denied any contact with other people, including lawyers and family members. Again, simply for being a suspect, without any evidence of a crime.
Few days ago she appeared in court again and her friends, relatives and some journalists attending the hearing were openly threatened by some nazis, and police did absolutely nothing to prevent or stop that. Does Hungary, after all a EU member ( for as strange as it may seem ) actually have a code of Law? Are nazis guarding courts in Hungary? What country is this?

  4. The charges on Salis are for “attempted assault.” Did she hit anyone or not? If it was “attempted” she did not actually assault anyone. “Attempted assault” would not appear as something requiring an excessive jail sentence and more importantly such extensive pre-trial incarceration. The people who actually did the assault are the ones who need to be tried and punished. She appears to be someone who happened to be in the company of other people who perpetrated the violence and is being punished probably more than need be. I would compare this case of “attempted assault” by a primary school teacher to the right-wing Hungarian terrorist convicted of carrying out bomb attacks and a vicious beating of a politician and was pardoned by Fidesz last year barely spending any time in jail.

  5. Salis should get what she deserves. Most reasonable people would dump ANTIFA members in the middle of the ocean without a raft. No sympathy for idiots. Wonder who brainwashed this female.
