Budapest, October 2 (MTI) – Hungary is able to become the centre of growth in central Europe, Prime Minister Viktor Orban said at the opening of the Bank of China’s renminbi (RMB) clearing centre in Budapest on Friday.

“Let’s believe the Chinese … if they have chosen Budapest for a regional centre, then there is potential … in the country”, Orban said. The newly opened centre strengthens an alliance whose every participant will be a winner, and a “new Silk Road” could develop between China and Hungary, and between China and central Europe, he added.

Several RMB centres have been set up in Asia and Europe to provide the necessary infrastructure for transactions carried out in the Chinese currency renminbi.
