Good news: prices of certain OTC drugs will be cut in Hungary

The Hungarian Chamber of Pharmacists said that pharmacies will also enforce the voluntary price restrictions of pharmaceutical manufacturers and wholesalers so pharmacies will sell the products concerned at their own list prices as of December 31, 2024, or cheaper, National Economy Minister Márton Nagy said on his Facebook page on Friday.

“We have taken another step against price increases,” the minister said. The announcement follows consultations initiated by the minister with pharmaceutical market actors to reduce the price of certain OTC medicines.

Under the agreement, the pharmaceutical manufacturers and wholesalers concerned pledged to cut the prices of 25 OTC drugs including painkillers, cough medicines, cold or flu medicines as well as nine prescription medicines to be specified later.
