Parliament official calls for eliminating causes of migration
Luxembourg, September 6 (MTI) – To handle the current crisis successfully, the causes of migration should be eliminated, Zsolt Nemeth, head of parliament’s foreign affairs committee, said in Luxembourg.
Attending a two-day session of foreign affairs and defence committee leaders of the EU member states, Nemeth
identified Libya and Syria, as two hotbeds of tension and sources of migration. He said the international community would be expected to take important measures to resolve both crises in the weeks to come.
He said that both conflicts should be settled through political means, with support from the key international players.
Nemeth said that the Schengen regime should be protected through an effective defence of external borders and by upholding the free movement of people within the zone.
