PHOTOS: Budapest bridge turned into giant Christmas trees
The 35-storey bridge is painted in green.
For the 2nd time, Hungarian Public Roads (Magyar Közút) transformed the Megyeri Bridge on the M0 motorway into a Christmas tree during the festive season. For energy-saving reasons, this year the bridge was only lit in green using the basic decorative lighting, but this time both pillars will be coloured over two weekends.
Two weekends for the Christmas trees
The pylons of the 35-storey Megyeri Bridge will stay green until Monday evening, 26 December. What is more, until Monday evening, on the top of the “trees”, there will be illuminated decorations on each side of each pylon, nlc.hu writes. For the second weekend from 30 December to 1 January (next weekend), one of the country’s most famous and best-loved bridges will be green.
On designated days, from sunset until dawn the next day, during the usual basic lighting period, anyone can admire the country’s largest Christmas trees.
