PM Orbán greets Jewish community on Hanukkah
Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has greeted the Hungarian Jewish community on the occasion of Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights, his press chief said on Sunday.
“This time around as we witness short winter days and long nights we shall feel grateful in our hearts for all we have. It teaches us to value as the greatest gift the opportunity that we can solemnly celebrate Hanukkah following the tradition of our ancestors together with our fellow community members and with our families,” Bertalan Havasi quoted Orbán as saying in a letter addressed to the community.
“As in the previous years, I wish you this time again that the light of the Hanukkah candles remind you of the eternal power that holds a community together,” he said, greeting every member of the Hungarian Jewish community.
The letter was sent to the leaders of all of Hungary’s Jewish organisations, Havasi said.
