Prisoner in Hungary tried to escape from hospital during medical treatment

Unusual scenes unfolded in the emergency department of a hospital in Veszprém, where a prisoner attempted to escape while receiving medical treatment. The man had been transported to the hospital by prison officers due to health issues.

Sudden move, swift capture

During his treatment, the inmate suddenly made a run for it, trying to take advantage of the situation. A hospital staff member attempted to stop him in the corridor, but the prisoner knocked them over and continued his escape. However, the attempt was short-lived: prison officers reacted quickly, apprehended the fleeing man, and returned him to the correctional facility, as per MTI.

Serious consequences expected, might get extra time in the detention centre

According to the authorities, the prisoner’s actions could have serious consequences, potentially adding several more years to his sentence. Officials also stressed that the incident highlights the necessity of strict security measures, including the use of restraints, during the transport and medical treatment of inmates.
