Rosatom can answer all of the new Hungarian government’s questions regarding the expansion of the Paks nuclear power plant, Director General Alexey Likhachev told journalists in Moscow on Monday.
Responding to comments by István Kapitány, the Tisza Party’s pick for economy ministry, that Hungary’s new government would review the conditions of the contract for building two more blocks at Paks, Likhachev highlighted Rosatom’s “unmatched experience” as the general contractor for the project.
“We understand the economics of such projects better than anyone else in the world. Numbers are rational things. We can easily explain and justify them if the Hungarian customer wants,” he said.
Likhachev noted that contracts for the construction of NPPs were not public “for obvious reasons”, but cabinet members of the new government would have the chance to familiarize themselves with the documents and ask questions to which Rosatom would respond.

Rosatom and Hungary’s new leadership share the same goal: to complete a project important for the Hungarian economy “as fast as possible, with the highest quality and at the best price”, he added.
