New Ryanair flight to coastal city from Budapest, Scandinavian Airlines returns to Budapest

In the 2025 summer season, Hungarian passengers will be able to travel from Budapest to Zadar, one of the most romantic coastal cities in Croatia. Furthermore, Scandinavian Airlines returned to Budapest Airport today.
New Ryanair flight four times a week
According to Budflyer, a Hungarian air travel news Facebook page, you can travel from Croatia to 122 foreign destinations, and traffic at Croatian airports is expected to break records. It is good news for passengers travelling from Hungary that Ryanair, the Irish budget airline, will resume its Zadar route from 1 June. The planes are planned to carry passengers until 30 September, four times a week.

Scandinavian Airlines returns after 10 years
Meanwhile, Scandinavian Airlines returned to Budapest after leaving us in 2015. The Copenhagen-Budapest flight was announced last year. However, the airline will provide a much greater capacity on the route than planned. As a result, five flights will commute between the two capitals each week in September and October.

Record passenger traffic expected at Budapest Airport in 2025
Budapest Airport’s operator talked about 18.5 million passengers for 2025 at a conference organised by the Mathias Corvinus Collegium (MCC). In 2024, traffic reached 17.6 million, exceeding expectations. In January, there were 1.3 million passengers, while that number was 1.25 million in February at Budapest Airport. That is an 18% and a 13% growth in an annual comparison.
The aim of the two Budapest Airport owners, Vinci Airport and the Hungarian state, is to increase airport traffic to 20 million by 2030 and 25 million by 2040. Furthermore, they would like to transform the airport into one of the leading cargo hubs in the region. Cargo volume increased by 49% to 300,000 tonnes.

Airlines should expect fines for landing after midnight
Constructing Terminal 3 and modernising Terminal 2 are currently the focus of development plans. Moreover, we can expect additional technological developments concerning safety. They also pay special attention to green developments.
In 2025, the number of destinations from Budapest will reach 200, while seat capacity will be 13.8 million, Máté Lóga, a Hungarian state secretary, said. Mr Lóga added that they would like to increase the number of Chinese tourists in Budapest. Seat capacity will reach 357 thousand in summer 2025, a 25% annual growth.
Flight capacities to Israel will increase to 600,000 in the summer schedule, hopefully making Budapest one of the region’s leading airports. However, he added that airlines should expect fines for planes landing after midnight.
