Schwarzenegger sends heartwarming VIDEO to his Hungarian stuntman friend getting lifetime achievement award

Arnold Schwarzenegger worked with Gábor Piroch, who was recently honoured with a lifetime achievement award, on films such as Terminator 3, The Last Stand, and Total Recall. In his video message, Schwarzenegger admitted that Piroch always took on the most difficult scenes and did everything to ensure Schwarzenegger looked his best on screen. He also revealed which of the two is the better chess player.

Schwarzenegger considers Piroch a true friend and hopes to work together

Arnold Schwarzenegger, the former bodybuilding world champion who will soon celebrate his 78th birthday, greeted the legendary Hungarian stuntman Gábor Piroch in a warm video message, cigar in mouth. Piroch received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Hungarian Film Academy at the MOZ.GO – Hungarian Motion Picture Festival yesterday.

According to Schwarzenegger, if anyone deserves this award, it is Piroch, who has been dedicated to stunt work for decades. He added that Piroch was essentially responsible for making the famous Hollywood actor look good on screen in their joint films. Speaking English with his characteristic German accent, Schwarzenegger noted that his friend performed the most dangerous stunts, playing a significant role in his successes.

“I am grateful for your friendship and thankful for all the times you beat me at chess. What you have accomplished is incredible. I think of you with much affection and wish you all the best in the future.” He also expressed hope that they would work together again and ended his message with his iconic phrase, “Hasta la vista, baby.” Here is the video:

Csaba Piroch responds to Schwarzenegger’s message

Csaba Piroch replied in Hungarian from what he described as “the other side of the world.” He said Schwarzenegger’s message was very honourable and he barely believed it. He suggested that their excellent collaboration, based on a warm friendship, also represents a historical legacy and a testament to Austrian-Hungarian relations (Schwarzenegger is Austrian-born, which is why he could not become e.g. US presidential candidate, a famous initiative of the 2000s when he was at the peak of his political career as the governor of California).

Holding a glass of champagne, Piroch wished his friend well and thanked Ádám Szedlacskó, owner of Flex Gym and another Hungarian friend of Schwarzenegger, for helping deliver the message. He highlighted that everyone in Hungary has seen Schwarzenegger’s message and that Schwarzenegger is very much loved there. However, Piroch did not comment on the possibility of working together on future films.

Here is the video, which unfortunately has no sound, but the English subtitles are clearly readable:

Schwarzenegger last visited Budapest last September, when he worked out with Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and briefly sat in the prime ministerial chair. He also visited the Déryné restaurant and met with Ádám Szedlacskó. A detailed report on that visit can be read on Daily News Hungary HERE.
