Socialists want more pay for Sunday work instead of retail closing law
Budapest (MTI) – Work on Sunday should be rewarded with double overtime pay, leader of the opposition Socialists said on Saturday.
The Socialists will support every organisation that is willing to fight to leave Sunday a day when shopping can be done, Jozsef Tobias said.
Prime Minister Viktor Orban has given evidence once again that he is isolated from reality in Hungary, as it is clear that about 4 million people in the country are unable to make a living working just six days a week, Tobias said. In addition, families have made it a practice to shop on Saturdays or Sundays, he said.
The government supports an initiative to restrict Sunday opening hours for retailers, Economy Minister Mihaly Varga said earlier in connection with a proposal submitted by the co-ruling Christian Democrats.
