Solar Markt Group inaugurated a solar park in Szihalom (Eastern Hungary) on Tuesday.

Speaking at the ceremony, Energy Affairs Minister Csaba Lantos said the park was the most efficient in Hungary, with capacity use over 20pc, compared to the 15-17pc at most parks. He added that over 1,000 MW of solar capacity had been added in Hungary so far this year, bringing the total to more than 7,000 MW.
When the weather is good, that capacity is enough to meet Hungary’s demand for electricity, putting the country in third place in a global comparison, after Chile and Greece, he said.
Agnes Jakabos, in charge of development at Solar Markt Group, said the park’s annual capacity exceeded 101.6 GWh.
The solar park has capacity to power 45,000 households. It was built without state or European Union support.
