British, French, Slovak and Dutch police officers are assisting the work of the Budapest Police Headquarters (BRFK) at this year’s Sziget Festival, a BRFK spokesperson said on Tuesday.
“We are cooperating with the Civil Guard, the Standby Police and the Metropolitan Municipality’s Law Enforcement Directorate to provide external security for the event,” Soma Csecsi told a press conference held at K-bridge which is the entrance to the festival grounds.
“Plainclothes police detectives are also involved in internal security, and if they detect any offences or criminal acts, they will take the necessary measures,” he said.
He added that police presence will be maintained also on the River Danube throughout the festival.
A police “Prevention Point” is operating on the island, providing information on crime prevention and accident prevention through interactive programmes, he said. This year’s programmes focus on sport, drug prevention and cyber security, he added.
