Szijjártó: Austrian chancellor ‘continues to insult Hungary’
Budapest (MTI) – Hungary’s foreign minister said on Wednesday that whereas Werner Faymann, the Austrian chancellor, is now copying Hungary’s policies on migration, he still insists on insulting the country.
Péter Szijjártó reacted in a statement to an interview the chancellor gave to Austria’s Kurier newspaper in which he stated his rejection of the “Orban coalition”.
Szijjártó said Faymann was continuing his “pathetic campaign of lies” against Hungary. “We reject these silly accusations,” he added, referring to the chancellor’s accusation that Hungary does not receive refugees. Szijjarto said that Hungary has always accepted refugees but it does not allow economic migrants into the country.
He said that last year Faymann had “insulted Hungary because of its fence” but now it is building one itself.
