Szijjarto: New US investments in pipeline
Budapest, January 12 (MTI) – Hungary’s minister for foreign affairs and trade on Monday flagged three new investments by American companies in Hungary.
Peter Szijjarto told a meeting of the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) on Monday that the new projects to be officially announced within the next few weeks would create 500 jobs and amount to an overall investment of 15.5 million dollars.
He also said that within the next few weeks the government would sign a strategic agreement with American tech company Oracle, the tenth to be signed with a US company.
The minister told the meeting earlier that it is in Hungary’s interest to resolve problem issues with the United States as quickly as possible.
It was important to do so because “the success of Hungary’s foreign policy and external economic strategy depends on balanced relations” with the US in every area.
He emphasised that in the areas of defence and economic cooperation the Hungarian-American relationship was “excellent” and only in political cooperation were there unresolved issues. He added that concerns about Hungary were overblown.
