45 puppies died in fire in a Pecs shelter

Fire broke out in the dog shelter of the Misina Nature and Animal Protection Association in Pecs on Saturday night, 45 puppies died – Baranya County Emergency Management Directorate informed on its website on Sunday, szeretlekmagyarorszag.hu wrote.

The fire was noticed by one of the colleagues of the association who spotted the dogs’ barking. Then, however, the roof of the dog kennels was already ablaze. The firefighters in Pecs started the rescue of the dogs in parallel with the extinguishing: they brought 15 animals out of the building, but 45 died.

The Baranya County disaster management highlighted there was no evidence of intent at the scene, the fire was probably caused by an electrical failure.

Tamas Farkas, head of the association told MTI: the fire affected the so-called puppy quarantine; the flames did not spread to other buildings, thanks to the quick intervention of the firefighters. It is essential because the organization takes care of 250 puppies and 150-200 other animals as well – he said.

Assessing of the damage is in progress, they would like to do the cleaning in voluntary work – Tamas Farkas stated, noting that the association welcomes anyone’s help, offering.

Electric motor from Pécs began its conquest

It is an increasingly common sight in Pecs that a well-built, metal miracle engine is silently rolling on the streets of the beautiful city, szeretlekmagyarorszag.hu said.

The vehicle called Big Boy Bike was made by Andras Tukora from Pecs, who runs an electrical reconstruction company. The company is dealing with the converting of mid-range gasoline cars into electric, but they also needed a vehicle with which one can easily travel in the city. Justifiably raised the question: if they already produce electric cars, why would have not they built a handy and pretty electric motor?

So the motor miracle shown in the picture has been completed. Finally, it became so popular that they began to reproduce it.

There is a brushless electric engine in the rear wheel of cool-looking capstan; its maximum torque is 150 newton meters. There is only 4 wear parts (2-2 bearings front and back), so there is hardly any maintenance costs. Its performance does not decline in 1500 charging cycles, the company warrants it. 200 kilometers can be done per charge (charge time is up to 2 hours, so it means that this motor can make 300 thousand kilometers without servicing at best. This is a record, since no electric motor could make this so far.

The maximum speed of Big Boy is 140km/h, but Tukora emphasized: you should not do this space, because the tires and the chassis would not endure. That is why the speed is limited at the factory, to 70-80km/h at home, for example.

The aluminum frame motor’s shape is cut with high water pressure and it only weighs 50-55kg. The 5-people company in Pecs makes the motors as a manufactory, one at a time. They built one in 4-5 days, they sell 4-5 pieces a month and are usually signposted for 8 months. According to szeretlekmagyarorszag.hu,it costs EUR 6000, approximately HUF 1 million 8 thousand.

Unfortunatley, therefore there is no demand for it in Hungary. However, in Switzerland, Norway and Russia, it sells like hotcakes. Another problem with domestic distribution is that it could be classified as a scooter with great difficulty, but this know and have more than a small motor.

Leonardo Da Vinci exhibition in Pécs

MTI/Travelo – Almost hundred, real-size inventions of Leonardo da Vinci will be presented in the Janus Pannonius Museum of Pécs, in addition at the main square a huge horse-shaped statue dreamt by the artist will be displayed – announced the Mayor of the Country Town of Baranya province on Monday.

At the press conference Zsolt Páva reported that The Genius of Leonardo,Leonardo’s Automobile and the Sforza horse exhibitions will be organized by the city museum. The exhibitions wait the visitors in two departments of the museum (Ferenc Martyn Museum and Modern Hungarian Gallery) in 1,500 square meters between 15th April and 30th September. A 8.5-meter tall horse sculpture, a copy of the Colossus – that can be expected to see from the beginning of April at the Széchenyi square, the main square of Pécs –draws attention to the exhibition.

According to Travelo, the Mayor also noticed that the exhibition – after Tokyo and San José in USA – will debut in its current form in Pécs, the first town within Europe. The Mayor reminded us to the similar event in Debrecen in 2007, but also noted that the exhibition in Pécs is bigger and different from the other Leonardo exhibition in its theme. The interactive exhibits, illustrative techniques of the 21st century mostly represent the special perspective of the genius master. Every detail can be examined that Leonardo discovered from his painting to the perspectives, forces of the nature and their special connections. Other renaissance designers will also be exhibited, as well as Leonardo’s Automobile and the “flying man”.

According to the Mayor, the Leonardo-exhibition is expected to be the Exhibition of the Year in Hungary, but presumably all over in Central Europe. “The sponsors’ names will be linked to the excellent quality and innovations, getting the show indirectly to approximately 150 thousand, directly to 5-6 million people, thus enriching Pécs city’s as well as the museum’s reputation” – said the city Mayor.

Attila Magyar, the finance director of the museum reported the exhibition items would come to the county town by two trucks until the beginning of April, but the pieces of the horse statue are to have arrived earlier, by another two trucks, in the middle of March. They plan to display the sculpture in the main square of Pécs from 27th March. The Janus Pannonius Museum made an agreement with the Opera Laboratori Fiorentini S.p.A of Florence on the transportation of the statue. The costs (more than €700,000) are being financed by the host city. Zsolt Páva also noted that hopefully the total revenue from the entrance fee of HUF 2-3,000 will make the exhibition profitable. Furthermore, they count on additional favorable impact on the tourism and catering of the county town.
