Tax authority to deploy armed excise officers for collection
Budapest, February 16 (MTI) – The national tax authority NAV will involve armed excise officers in tax collection, increase their number and speed up the office’s reaction time, Tuesday’s daily Magyar Idok said citing deputy state secretary Tamás Molnár.
Fewer tax employees will stay in the office and more will get involved in visiting debtors. In certain cases they will be accompanied by armed excise officers, who can prevent attacks against the tax collectors, he said in an interview with the paper.
Molnár insisted that NAV should prevent the accumulation of tax arrears owed by certain individuals or companies in the range of tens or hundreds of millions of forints.
