Both the national dawn minimum and the Budapest daytime maximum temperature records were broken again on Tuesday, HungaroMet said on its website, noting that the Budapest daytime maximum temperature record was broken in Ujpest, reaching 40.3 C. The previous record was also set in Ujpest in 2017, at 39.8C.
The temperature in Bodan, Baranya County, dropped to just 26.8 C at dawn on Tuesday, while the minimum temperature in Budapest was 26.1 C on János Hill. Both readings broke the previous national dawn minimum record of 26.0 C, set in Budapest on Széchenyi Hill in 1998, the weather service added.
