Temu domination in Hungary: 2024 saw 9 million orders

Online sales in Hungary climbed over HUF 1,900 billion (EUR 4.7 billion) in 2024, a report by consultancy PwC shows.

E-commerce grew by close to 15% during the year. Imports accounted for HUF 330 billion (EUR 820 million) of the total, up 17%, while sales of domestic webshops rose 10%. China’s Temu had over 9 million local orders with a value of around HUF 110 billion (EUR 273 million). The site’s active user base reached 1.8 million and one-third of Hungarians who make purchases online had the Temu application on their phones.

The report shows that 31% of the 4.2 million Hungarians who make purchases online do so regularly. Around 31% rarely make purchases and 38% make occasional purchases.
