Debrecen University Hospital: baby delivered from brain-dead mother
Debrecen University Hospital published pictures: a healthy baby was delivered after doctors kept the child’s brain-dead mother on life support for three months. According to the medical team “the child is developing normally and healthy.”
University of Debrecen said yesterday the mother suffered a stroke when she was three and a half months pregnant. The baby was delivered via cesarean section on this summer when the child was at 27 weeks, weighing 1.4 kilograms (3 pounds, 1.8 ounces). The Medical University in Debrecen said “the child is healthy and developing normally.”
Some of the mother’s organs – her liver, kidneys, heart and pancreas – were donated to four recipients two days after the delivery.
