The Hungarian Youth Olympic Team has Finished Eight Overall in the Medal Count
Double-gold-medal-winner swimmer Liliána Szilágyi will carry the national flag at the closing ceremony.
Four years ago, at the first Singapore Youth Olympic Games the Hungarian team won 6 gold, 4 silver and 5 bronze medals. At the Nanjing games that finished today, the Hungarian team managed to exceed the Singapore medal count by winning 6 gold, 6 silver and 11 bronze medals finishing eighth in the medal table.
Following the tradition the Hungarian Olympic Committee has decided that at the Nanjing Youth Olympics closing ceremony the most successful Hungarian athlete of the summer games carries the national flag, who is swimmer Liliána Szilágyi that won two gold medals – 100m and 200m butterfly.
“Carrying the national flag at the Olympics I think a huge thing, and I feel very honored that I have been chosen for the job. Oh my goodness – I’m going to carry the national flag” said the overly enthusiastic 17-year-old Liliána to mob.hu.
