The Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania (RMDSZ) has shown that it is a serious and reliable ally of the Hungarian government, ruling Fidesz deputy leader and MEP Kinga Gál said at an RMDSZ congress on Friday.
Kinga Gál told the congress for re-election of officials that having the right ethnic Hungarian partners had a basic influence on the success of the government’s policy for Hungarian communities abroad. Gál said that the government viewed Transylvanian Hungarians as a resource and a bridge, a pledge for good relations between Hungary and Romania. The success of Romanian-Hungarian ties is a joint interest, she added. The two-day congress in Timisoara (Temesvár) is attended by some 800 delegates and 150 guests.
