Today: Arab Cultural Day in Budapest
The Council of Arab Ambassadors in Budapest, in cooperation with Faculty of Humanities of Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE), and under the patronage of Dr. Kövér László, Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary, is holding the 3rd consecutive annual event titled “Arab Cultural Day” on Thursday, 11th April 2019, at Gólyavár” bldg. of Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE).
This year”s event is coinciding with the birthday of widely acknowledged poet Attila József, and the celebration of the Hungarian Poetry Day, and will run from 10: 00 – 18:30, seeking to increase knowledge of Arab rich culture, and to promote meaningful, constructive intercultural dialogue between Arab-Muslim culture and the Hungarian’s.
The event will offer a variety of cultural activities, including exhibition, dealing with heritage and modern culture of the Arab world.
Where fourteen Arab countries will be represented by, their embassies, at pavilions and stalls, and bring the sights, smells and sounds of their homelands to, Mária Terézia Hall, at Gólyavár building, with a showcase of music, traditional crafts, paintings, sculpture, pottery, traditional jewelry, exotic food tasting, calligraphy and, most importantly, the spirit of the Arab world.
The event also includes discussions and lectures held in the presence of Hungarian and Arab experts and directors, dealing with heritage and modern Arabic cultural fields focusing on Arab Culture Contributions to the World’s Civilization, which will help the spectators to get to know this exotic culture better.
Program of the event will be as follows:

- Dr. Gábor Sonkoly, Dean of Eötvös Loránd University
- Dr. Hamad Mohammad Burhamah, Ambassador of the state of Kuwait and Dean of the Arab Ambassadors Council – Budapest
- Dr. László Kövér, Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary
10: 20 – Opening the Cultural Exhibition
The pavilions of Arab countries can be visited at the Maria Theresa Hall until 18.30.
12.30 – 16.00 – ARAB CULTURE CONTRIBUTION TO THE WORLD’S CIVILIZATION
