Vonatinfo, Hungary’s real-time tracker for passenger trains, went back online on Monday after a year-long hiatus.

In a post on Facebook, Transportation and Investment Minister Dávid Vitézy noted that János Lázár, the transportation minister in the previous government, had suspended the tracker amid an increase in service interruptions with the aim of “concealing the problems facing the Hungarian railway“.

The tracker — click here — is available to the public and does not require registration, he said.

Hungary to join European high-speed rail initiative

Hungary’s government wants to participate in the shared effort to build up Europe’s high-speed rail network, Vitézy said ahead of a meeting of his European Union peers in Luxembourg on Monday. He said Hungary also wanted to be a part of efforts to upgrade military mobility on Europe’s rail network, while making domestic developments to benefit international hauliers. He added that Hungary would table proposals on improving European and domestic rail networks.
