Two soldiers have died while on duty in recent days, Hungary’s Defence Minister announced on Thursday.
Writing on his Facebook page, Romulusz Ruszin-Szendi said a 20-year-old man had taken his own life during his shift for reasons as yet unknown, while a 41-year-old honvéd fell ill during training and died in hospital the following day. “Neither case involved any known medical or psychological problem,” the minister said, adding that an investigation into the circumstances of both deaths was under way, the Hungarian news agency wrote.
He expressed his condolences to the families and comrades of the deceased. The Hungarian Defence Forces and the Ministry of Defence are examining the precise circumstances surrounding the fatalities.
