US-based company HTEC to invest EUR 12.6m in Hungary IT centres

US-based tech consultancy and development company HTEC will invest 4.7 billion forints (EUR 12.6m) to set up IT centres in four Hungarian cities, Péter Szijjártó, the minister of foreign affairs and trade, said in Szeged, in southern Hungary, on Tuesday.

HTEC will set up the IT centres in the capital, Debrecen, Szeged and PĂ©cs, creating over 600 jobs, SzijjártĂł said. He said the project would help educated young people to jobs and helps young professionals to remain “not only in Hungary but in cities outside Budapest”. Such projects can greatly contribute to a “dimension shift in Hungary’s economy”, he added.

The government will support the investments with a 700 million forint grant, he added.

HTEC will staff the IT centre in Budapest with 250 people. The other three centres will each have a headcount of 120.
