US embassy slams Hungarian government in a hard-hitting video

The US Embassy to Hungary has released a short video criticising the Orbán cabinet.

The Embassy says that several Hungarian public figures have recently made statements that could have been made by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The video lists a number of leading politicians from the ruling party who share theories that are in line with Russian propaganda:

  • The House Speaker: The embassy found to be the case with the statement by László Kövér, Speaker of the Parliament, that what if the empire-building policy is being pursued from west to east and Ukraine becomes another hopeful province of the Euro-Atlantic Empire?
  • András Bencsik, editor-in-chief of the Demokrata, was also put in a similar category for his declaration of war at the end of September. Details HERE: Organiser of Orbán’s peace march would start an EU-USA war
  • Sámuel Ágoston Mráz, head of the Nézőpont Institute, said that the United States was also a “beneficiary of the war” and, therefore had no interest in ending it.
  • Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjén: “the universities of the United States have given rise to a neo-pagan and explicitly barbaric ideology that denies all the values that humanity has created” (the statement had nothing to do with the war).

Not incidentally, the US embassy also refers to the Democrata Weekly, Nézőpont, and Kontra as “government-funded” organisations in the video. At the end of the video, they refer back to this and say:

In recent weeks, several senior government figures and government-funded commentators have made harsh anti-Western and anti-American statements. Hungary and the United States are Allies. As Russian aggression threatens us all, we must stand together, not move apart.
