Economy minister: Hungary looking to create conditions for weapons manufacture
Budapest, February 16 (MTI) – The government is putting together and inter-ministerial committee to create the conditions for Hungary to enter the arms industry, Economy Minister Mihály Varga said on Tuesday.
Varga told a press conference that the committee will be headed by economy ministry state secretary István Lepsényi and said that weapons production could become Hungary’s leading industry in the long run.
Responding to a question, he said the ministry is in the process of preparing a “balanced budget” with zero deficit for 2017.
Answering another question, Varga said that after the tourism industry’s record year in 2015, the government is now looking for ways to further strengthen the industry.
