Wizz Air to launch 7 new flights from Debrecen
Hungarian low-fare airline Wizz Air will launch seven new flights from Debrecen, CEO József Váradi said on Monday.
The company will add another Airbus A320 to its fleet based in the eastern Hungarian city, he said.
Wizz Air will launch flights to Dortmund, Basel, Doncaster/Sheffield and Barcelona starting mid-December, and to Larnaca, Palma de Mallorca and Malta at the end of March 2019.
The company commenced its newest service between Budapest and Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg (EuroAirport) on 20 April. The new route is operated 5 times a week, offering a convenient schedule for both business and leisure travelers.
Regarding Barcelona, the Mediterranean city will be accessible by air from Debrecen Airport between mid-June and late September. The company advises its customers to book the tickets weeks before the departure as seats may sell out quite early due to the high demand. Last minute offers are not likely to appear.
Besides the new routes, the frequency of the flights to Tel Aviv and Paris Beauvais will be increased, meaning that there will be 16 more flights per week leaving the Debrecen Airport in 2019.
According to portfolio.hu, Wizz Air launched its first flight from the Debrecen Airport in 2012. With today’s announcement, the company’s investment in its Debrecen base will exceed 200 million dollars and will offer around 600 thousand seats on 14 flights going to 11 countries by 2019.
