Hungary’s ZalaZONE vehicle test track is 55 percent – 60 percent complete, László Vígh, the government commissioner for the project said at a press conference on site on Wednesday.
The first phase of the 45 billion forint (EUR 136m) test track, including a 2km handling course, 300m-diametre dynamic platform and multi-surface braking platform, five-hectare smart city, 2,000sqm garage and conference centre, was completed last spring.
Other elements of ZalaZone include test track modules for rural road, highway and motorway; a high-speed oval; an extreme side-shifted road; a bad roads module; a slopes module; a noise measurement track; a water basin; and a kickplate.
Vígh noted that the test track can accommodate autonomous and electric vehicles as well as ones with conventional combustion engines.
