7 baths deserving more attention
If you visit Hungary, it is difficult to avoid visiting a spa or a bath. Due to the country’s favorable characteristics concerning thermal water, we can find a spa almost anywhere we go in the country. Termalfurdo.hu collected seven of those that are less known, but still worth a visit.
Bihar Termálliget was renewed a couple years ago, so it has become even more modern and comfortable. The spa offers opportunities for both doing sport and having fun with its different pools, spa and sauna. The most popular part of the bath is the “leventemedence” (“The Pool of Levente”), which was extended by five new pools and several spa services. Bihar Termálliget’s water has been officially announced a thermal water in 1997. The spa receives its water reserves from a well nearby. The thermal water coming up from the ground is 63 degrees Celsius hot. Musculoskeletal diseases can be treated with the water that contains sodium, hydrogen carbonate and silicic acid.
Another hidden gem is Szarvasi Szent Klára Thermal Spa, which awaits visitors all year. The bath provides various pools and wellness services for its guests. Pools of several heat rates can be found in the bathing complex like a thermal pool (36 degrees Celsius), a medicinal pool (36-40 degrees Celsius), a swimming pool (28 degrees Celsius) and a whirlpool bath (32 degrees Celsius). Wellness, fitness and alternative medicine services can also be enjoyed there.
Swimming Pool of Bükkszékfürdő is also one of those bathing spots that does not get the attention it deserves. Multiple types of pools and thermal baths await the visitors, along with a 136-meter-long slide. It is the perfect place for both resting and healing. Pools with medicinal water, a swimming pool, a fun pool and a children’s pool can be found in Strandfürdő.
Near the Slovakian border, you can find Lipót Thermal Bath with lots of swimming and thermal pools, slides and sport opportunities. The bath was renewed in 2002, and it has become one of the most modern complexes in Hungary. Two thermal pools, a beach pool with four slides, a children’s pool, a fun pool and a medicinal pool await guests there. The atmosphere of the bath is enhanced by the creek, the watermill, and the small island. Visitors may also try mini-golf, beach volley ball, mini soccer, cableway, playground and table tennis. The medicinal water eases musculoskeletal, rheumatic and inflammatory symptoms.
Kristályfürdő in Ajka offers an enormous water surface of 1700 square meters with 6 fun pools all year. The bath was renewed in 2006, thus becoming a true adventure land for the whole family. Several programs, wellness treatments and various sports are available in the park.
Lenti Thermal Spa and St. Georg Energy Park provides seven indoors pools. Saunas and steam rooms await inside, while a beauty farm and massage services can be found upstairs. The outdoors area consists of five additional pools and a 74-meter-long slide. The biggest pool of the bath is 1340 square meters large. The world-famous medicinal water of the spa can be applied to musculoskeletal diseases, arthrosis, as well as spine and back problems.
Not too far away from Lake Balaton lies Marcali Local Town Spa and Leisure Center in a large park. A swimming pool, a children’s pool, thermal pools and medicinal pools serve the needs of visitors on a 50,000 square meters large territory. There are great opportunities for refreshment in saunas, steam rooms, cold diving pools and a jacuzzi. Those who prefer active resting may also find their luck there: four tennis courts, two beach handball and volleyball courts, and a basketball court can be found in the leisure center.
