We give you 5+1 really good reasons why you should visit Hungary
You are not sure whether you should visit our little Central European country this summer? Here is a small list of the best reasons why you should do so.
It is only a matter of time until we can get back to normality. Nevertheless, at this point, we already have more than one options to travel in the world, especially inside the European Union as the EU immunity certificate is already in the testing phase and in just 2 weeks, it will go live in all EU countries. Here you can read all the information about the precious document granting you free movement between EU member states. Moreover, if you come from a country with which Hungary has a bilateral agreement to accept each other’s immunity certificates, you already have the green light.
In the case you are vaccinated and ready to travel, set to receive your jab very soon, or maybe you do not mind taking 2 PCR tests, here is some help to convince you why to start packing your bags.
Cheap
The magic word that draws attention. Hungary is quite cheap as opposed to many popular or even less popular European countries. Despite a big increase in food and property prices in Budapest, especially during the past months, the Hungarian capital is still considered one of the best places to spend your money and get a lot for it. This involves accommodation prices, be it a hotel or an Airbnb; restaurants, cafés, and rooftop bars; thermal baths and beaches.

All this in a beautiful and authentic environment. This leads us to the next point on the list:
Historical
Not only the Hungarian capital but many smaller cities or towns are also pure history and architecture. If we talk about Budapest, it is enough to mention some of the most important buildings of the country, the Hungarian Parliament, the Buda Castle with the whole district around it that has been standing at the same spot since 1243, the St. Stephen’s Basilica built 170 years ago, or the building of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics that was also built around the same time.
Since education is mentioned, the country’s oldest university was opened almost 654 years ago. Apart from Budapest, there are many other spots in the country that reflect its more than 1,000-year-old history. Veszprém, the city of Queens, for instance, is one of these places.

Geography
Hungary might not have a 2,000-metre-tall mountain or a sea, but you can find every geographical site a country can wish for. Starting with the largest lake of Central Europe, Lake Balaton, where you can spend your summer vacation swimming, diving or sailing before you go out partying in one of the most popular party cities around it.
Or, you can choose the Great Hungarian Plain to have a smoother surface either for hiking or biking, accompanied by a cattle of the famous Hungarian Grey along the road. If you feel more adventurous, visit the Kékes, the country’s highest mountain, in the winter to ski, snowboard, or simply admire the wonderful view of Northern Hungary.

Drinks
Let’s start with an important fact. On a European level, drinks in Hungary are relatively cheap.
I am pretty sure there is no need to present to you Hungary’s authentic and traditional alcoholic beverage, pálinka. If you do not know anything about it or you have not tasted it yet, read this article on our national pride.
If pálinka is too strong for you (we totally understand, some training is necessary to fully enjoy it), you can try Unicum, the herbal liqueur we drink as a digestif or an apéritif. It offers slightly less alcohol percentage with a lot more flavour, thanks to forty different herbs and spices.
If you are more of a wine person, we still got you covered. For over centuries, Hungary has been producing award-winning wines recognised all over the world. Whether you like a strong red, a lighter white or a refreshing rosé, Hungarian vineyards are the places to enjoy them.

Men and women
As the saying goes: “Hungarian women are the most beautiful”. Beauty is relative and everyone has his or her own preferences; nevertheless, it is a fact that Hungarian women are among the most beautiful all around the world. This is not only something coming from proud Hungarian men but also an international decision, or else supermodels Barbara Palvin and Enikő Mihalik would not have so much international success.
When it comes to the representatives of the other gender, Hungary has no reason to feel ashamed. Whether you think of an actor, a singer or a sportsman, the little country is abundant in handsome and extremely good-looking fellas. Check out 5 of the hottest Hungarian men.

Thanks to the international recognition, our universities, mainly those of Budapest, are full of international students every year. They come from many different countries to continue their higher education in a beautiful and quite cheap environment. Due to the large number of international students, Hungary is a very good place to practice the language you are currently studying. Moreover, you can very easily bump into a friend you did not know was studying abroad.
