Two people have died during this year’s Ozora Festival in central Hungary, including a 45-year-old American man whose death is being investigated by police and a 39-year-old woman who suffered sudden cardiac arrest.
According to the Fejér County Police Headquarters, the fatal incident involving the American national occurred at around 4 PM on Saturday, 1 August.
Festival organisers alerted the authorities after the man climbed onto decorative structures surrounding the main stage before falling to his death, reports Telex.
Police rule out foul play
The Sárbogárd Police Department has launched an administrative investigation to establish the exact circumstances of the incident.
Police said they have ruled out the involvement of a third party. Based on the evidence gathered so far, investigators believe the death was likely the result of suicide.
Further details are expected following a press conference scheduled for Sunday afternoon, where Ozora Festival’s chief organiser and owner, Árpád Zimányi, is due to address the incident.
Second fatality at the festival
In a statement published on its official Facebook page, the festival also confirmed a second death.
A 39-year-old woman suffered sudden cardiac arrest during the event. Emergency medical teams arrived at the scene within minutes and attempted resuscitation but were unable to save her life.
Music programme shortened
Following the two tragic incidents, festival organisers announced that all musical performances on Sunday would end at midnight.
They also reminded attendees that a heat alert remains in force and urged visitors to take appropriate precautions in the extreme temperatures.
The Ozora Festival, one of Europe’s best-known psychedelic music and arts events, attracts thousands of visitors from around the world each year.
