Border fence will do if no better solution, says Socialist official

migration Socialists

Budapest, November 5 (MTI) – Deputy Socialist leader Zoltan Gogos has expressed agreement with the party’s former leader that in absence of a swift European solution to the migrant crisis a border fence was “some sort of a solution”, daily Nepszabadsag said on Thursday.

The paper asked Gogos and senior politicians of other leftist opposition parties to comment on Istvan Hiller’s remark on illegal migration made in an interview to a commercial radio station earlier this week.

“I don’t like it that much that there is a fence along our country’s border, but could anyone come up with a solution that is any better,” Hiller, now deputy speaker of parliament, told Inforadio on Tuesday.

Gogos told the paper that unless a common European solution is found for the migrant crisis, possibly at its roots, within a short period of time, the EU’s external borders would then need to be sealed in one way or the other.

Senior politicians of LMP, the Democratic Coalition (DK), Dialogue for Hungary (PM), Egyutt and the Hungarian Liberal Party disagreed with the opinion of Hiller and Gogos, the paper said.
