Civil groups protest against information law
Budapest, June 29 (MTI) – Four civil groups have spoken out against a proposed amendment to the law on freedom of information.
The proposed introduction of a fee for demanding the disclosure of data in the public interest poses an “insurmountable obstacle” to accessing such data, Transparency International Magyarorszag, K-Monitor, Atlatszo and Energiaklub said in a joint statement on Monday,
The NGOs has sent a letter to Justice Minister Laszlo Trocsanyi, data protection ombudsman Attila Peterfalvi and legislators to prevent “new restrictions” on freedom of information.
