Friday saw the draw for the round of 16 of this season’s Hungarian Cup, a competition which now only features seven top-flight clubs after MTK, Videoton and Haladás joined Paks and Debrecen on the list of NB I casualities this week.

The highlights of the draw for the ninth round of the Cup include all-top-tier clashes between Ferencváros and Honvéd and the two promoted sides Mezőkövesd and Gyirmót, while a 3rd division team is guaranteed a place in the quarter-finals by virtue of Budafok and Érd being drawn together. Their fellow NB III club Szentlőrinc were meanwhile handed a tricky but not insurmountable tie at home to second-tier outfit Szolnok. The two-legged ties will be played on 11th February and 1st March 2017.
