Ecumenical Charity begins distributing aid to Afghanistan earthquake victims
Budapest (MTI) – The Ecumenical Charity has begun distributing relief aid to the victims of the powerful earthquake that struck northern Afghanistan on Monday, the organisation told MTI.
The charity said it was sending the 1 million forints (EUR 3,200) worth of relief aid to Badakhshan province, where the tremor’s epicentre was located, and neighbouring Takhar province. The aid contains food, water and blankets, they said in a statement.
The charity is organising the relief campaign with the help of its office in the city of Mazar-i-Sharif, in northern Afghanistan, they said.
The earthquake struck remote and impoverished regions of Afghanistan and Pakistan, killing at least 263 people.
