Budapest, May 5 (MTI) – Radical nationalist Jobbik has formed its parliamentary group, headed by party leader Gabor Vona.
Vona told a press conference on Monday that the party would have five deputy group leaders: Gergely Farkas, Janos Volner, Marton Gyongyosi, Daniel Karpat and Tamas Sneider. The group has given its authorisation to nominate Sneider to the post of deputy parliamentary speaker. Vona said the party does not have scenario for what would happen were the other parties to refuse to elect Sneider.
The leftist opposition parties have objected to Sneider’s nomination quoting his “fascistic” past.
Dora Duro will be nominated to head parliament’s education and cultural committee and Janos Volner will be nominated to head the business development committee.
Vona said Jobbik would initiate a day of debate this week about Hungary’s first ten years as a member of the European Union and the party would propose cancelling lawmakers’ immunity rights.
Fidesz: Rogan is to continue leading the ruling party’s parliamentary group, it was decided at a group meeting today.
Peter Harrach will continue to lead the group of the Fidesz allied Christian Democrats, they announced at a news conference.
