Nemzetisport.hu reports that, after the Hungarian football team defeated Austria (2-0), one of the players, László Kleinheisler was well appreciated by the UEFA and the French L’Équipe as well.
Tuesday brought an amazing victory for Hungary after more than four decades of waiting, as the national team managed to defeat the Austrians thanks to goals scored by Ádám Szalai and Zoltán Stieber, at the 2016 European Football Championship.
Aside the victory, further acknowledgements were given to the Hungarians, especially to László Kleinheisler, as he was named “Man of the match” by the UEFA (Union of European Football Associations), for he greatly assisted in succeeding the first goal and “[t]here was an intelligence and incisiveness to his play that was vital to producing this result”.
Moreover, the midfielder of Werder Bremen was also chosen among the first round’s Dream Team of L’Équipe. Thus, Kleinheisler’s name was listed alongside players such as Luka Modric, Andrés Iniesta, Jordi Alba and Dimitri Payet. The French daily sports-paper highlighted the goal assist and the three shots on target that was done by the Hungarian player.
Next up for Hungary is the match against Iceland on Saturday, June 18.
