Budapest is the 16th, Hungary is the 33rd on the world rank list of conference locations, they both ranked 3 places higher than last year, Hungarian Tourism Agency (MTÜ) reports.
International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) published the statistical summary of 2016 on 8th May, which states that the Hungarian capital beat such cities as Rome, Edinburgh, Stockholm, Hongkong or Istanbul.
As it is stated on their homepage, ICCA was found in 1963 and since then, it has been the “global community and knowledge hub for the international association meetings industry” that works with more than 1,000 companies and organizations to survey the needs and ideas of international meetings. They publish a list of the most popular conference venues every year based on their records.
ICCA registered approximately 12,300 professional events in the world throughout 2016. According to the list, the most events were held in Paris, the second place goes to Vienna, and Barcelona ranked third.
Concerning countries, the most event took place in the United States, while Germany came in second, the United Kingdom third.
In the competition of continents, Europe is the most popular location of conferences with half of the events being held there. Europe is followed by Asia and the Middle East, as well as South and North America.
