VIDEO: American-Hungarian sexual predator arrested in Budapest on FBI information
A Hungarian-US dual citizen wanted on 16 counts of sexual violence in the US has been arrested in Budapest, the Hungarian national investigative office of the rapid-response police (KR NNI) said on Thursday. The operation was conducted on information from the FBI, the statement on police.hu said.
The investigation started against the 59-year-old man in Illinois, on charges of sexual assault on minors. The man is suspected to have changed his name and fled to Hungary after that, the statement said.
Hungarian and US investigators established in cooperation that the man was hiding in Hungary, and arrested him in a Budapest flat. He is now awaiting a decision on his extradition, the statement said.
