According to index.hu, in the autumn, the demolition of Ferenc Puskas Stadium can be started, the construction of the new stadium will be launched next year and it will be completed by 2019 at latest – Balazs Furjes, Government Commissioner responsible for Budapest investment said M1 channel on Monday.

Puskas stadium plan scaled back

The most important is the keeping of the budget – Balazs Furjes said. The plan he saw was a little bit exaggerated; they made it more economical and more rational, but it also meets the expectations; a modern football stadium will be built, which in turn evokes the old one in character.

The constructions starting next year will be completed by 2018 or 2019 at latest. The original stadium, which was able to host 70 thousand people, was opened under the name Nepstadion (People’s Stadium) in 1953. From 2002, it operated as Ferenc Puskas Stadium, MTI said.
